Spring Break: Monticello and Lynchburg

On The Drive

The drive to Monticello was nice. Pretty and horsey, and if we had more time we would have spent it at the awesome old house packed full of antiques. We will return! Here's a few shots from the drive.

Monticello and Lynchburg

We would have spent the day at Monticello if we had planned ahead. We didn't reserve tickets and the next tour was too late for our schedule. But we had lunch and spent a lot of time at the visitors center. Again, just another reason to go back soon!

As we headed into Lynchburg, VA, the girls were still asleep so we thought we'd get a tour of the town, and look what we found. Lots of beautiful architecture to admire. All this beauty was packed into the rather compact historic district, and along a main road that lead out of town. Any one of these could be my dream house.

We also stopped by their resident City Cemetery, which boasted many confederate graves. We missed the cemetery we wanted to see in Charlottesville, VA, where Jubal Early, and other noted historical figures were buried.

Onward to the hotel, awaken the children, get dinner, and have a fun swim in the pool where we met a lovely mom and daughter from Long Island, NY.
